Hello! My name is Rafael Antonio Téllez Pavón, but everyone calls me Toño. I’m 10 years old and I’m in sixth grade at Salomón de la Selva School, which is in a rural community called La Galera, in the south of Granada. I consider myself a very quiet boy who doesn’t talk much, I just need to feel comfortable so people can really get to know me. 

My family is made up of my mom, Liseth Pavón, a homemaker; my dad, Enrique Téllez, who works as a brush cutter; and my two siblings, Marisol and Carlos. At home, I help by washing the dishes and taking care of the cows and other animals. I try to be obedient, so my mom doesn’t have to worry about me. 

I like playing soccer with my friends from the community. My favorite color is red because it represents the color of blood, and my favorite food is roasted chicken with a cacao drink. I love rabbits—they’re so cute and fluffy—but I’m scared of toads because of the sounds they make. When I grow up, I want to be a police officer so I can help people in need and help reduce crime in my country. 

What makes me happiest is going out with my family and visiting places like the beach. One thing that makes me sad is when I want to use my cellphone and I’m not allowed to use it. Still, I feel happy and grateful to have my family united. 

At the Pantanal Learning Center, I’ve learned a lot. My favorite classes are Spanish and Math because we learn new and interesting things. I’ve also learned to use computers and to express myself more during themed afternoons. I’m a shy kid, but I really enjoy going to the learning center, and I’m happy to have many friends and teachers who care about me.
